Dr. Núria Bel is Associate Professor at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) and Head of Research of the group Technologies of Language Resources at the Institut de Lingüística Aplicada (UPF). Her current lines of research are related to the development of methodologies and tools for the automatic acquisition of language resources from text data. In this area, she has published more than 50 contributions and she has been the supervisor of 6 PhD dissertations. She was the coordinator of the PANACEA project (7FP-ITC-248064) also focussed on the automatic production of Language Resources.
Other areas of interest are machine translation, evaluation of machine translation, and language resources for Natural Language Processing in general. She has participated in more than 15 European and national funded research projects related to Language Resources such as: MULTEXT (LRE62050), LSGRAM (LRE61029), PAROLE (LE2-4017), SIMPLE (LE4-8346), LIRICS (e-content 22236), METANET4U (CIP-PSP-270893) and to Infrastructures for the research in Humanities and Social Sciences: CLARIN (FP7-INFRA-2007-1-212230) and DASISH (INFRA-2011- 283646).
She is member of the Board of the META-NET network of excellence and among other collaborations with research and innovation policies in Spain, she has been co-editor of the report Informe sobre el estado de las tecnologías del lenguaje en España dentro de la Agenda Digital para España (2015).
