On 12 February 2020, the ELRC enters its third continuation. In the course of ELRC, an impressive 1.337 unique language resources were made available through the ELRC-SHARE Repository. This is thanks to outstanding support and contributions from various public administrations, researchers and companies across Europe as well as ELRC’s network of National Anchor Points.

The “new” ELRC will go far beyond the gathering of language resources: It will bridge the gap to Europe’s Language Technology industry, supporting the adaptation of the latest research innovations and AI to the local needs and promoting existing language technology solutions. The corresponding ELRC country workshops across all EU Member States, Norway and Iceland will start from September 2020 and will be published on the ELRC events page.

ELDA's activities

As in the previous ELRCs, ELDA continues to be in charge of the Technical Helpdesk and Legal Helpdesk (T1) and the Country Workshop (T3).

  • Technical Helpdesk

ELDA is in charge of granting access to the the CEF AT services. ELDA's assistance to users includes  first-line support on connections to the “CEF AT services”, but also integration and usage of the “CEF AT services”. Building on its previous experience with the service desk, ELDA currently manages access of users to eTranslation APIs and closely collaborates with them to ensure that the developed applications fulfil their requirements.

  • Legal Helpdesk

ELDA provides answers to legal questions related to the collection and sharing of language
resources and tools, licensing models, IPR (intellectual property rights) clearance, data protection
requirements (GDPR) and confidentiality aspects. ELDA also supports the providers of LRs and tools in the clearing of the legal aspects, related to the sharing of language data, confidentiality, IPR (incl. IPR clearance) as well as licensing and licensing models.

In addition to supporting the anonymization process of the providers, ELDA also validates the legal compliance of the language resources and tools to be made available through the repository with the established validation guideline.

For both Helpdesks, ELDA elaborates, updates and maintain the Frequently Asked Questions section of the ELRC website.
